1/32 F-4E "Arkansas Traveller II", 469th TFS, 388th TFW, Korat, RTAFB, Thailand, 1970

The personal mount of Col. Paul Douglas, commander of 388 TFW, "Arkansas Traveller II", complete with his 8 kills from WWII. This is the Tamiya 1/32nd F-4E Early, with Rhinomodel Seamless intakes, Avionix Cockpit, Eduard Placards and Stencil Masks, Master Pitot tubes, Quickboost FOD covers and finally the CAM Decals. Homemade RBF Tags (thanks Mish!) I have to say this is one of the few builds with Aftermarket where everything was worth while - I especially liked the stencil masks rather than using decals for the stencils as they look better, and are way more fun to do than decals. The Avionix pit is also very nice, and unlike a Aires resin actually gives good fitting instructions too. The only negative is the fuselage had a slight twist, probably from the hacking about to get the seamless intakes to fit, but it throws off the stabilators slightly. Painted with Gunze throughout apart from the metalwork which is just about every shade of Alclad. Weathered lightly with ...

M-40 'Big Shot', 204 FA, Korea 1952 AFV  Club kit OOB - did have their Workable tracks but abandoned them as they were terrible. The decals also deconstructed themselves, so I masked the markings. Build thread  here Peter

Spitfire LFMk.IXc, ML135, flown by Jerry Billing, No. 401 Squadron, Tangmere AB, June 7, 1944 Finished today to clear the decks for the Korean War GB. Lovely kit, with no real vices other than the roundels being wrong, and a little transparent. Fixed the roundels by making some masks and spraying them - in hindsight I should have sprayed the other roundels too. Painted with the Tamiya Acrylics. Work in Progress is available  here Peter

I'm calling this one done, mainly due to being sick of having to patch the Alclad polished aluminium. Why that particular shade causes so many problems is a bit of a mystery. Apart from the Alclad this was a fun kit, only minor issue being the fillet to cover the space for the second seat which needed a little filling, and me putting the nose on upside down at first   Build thread is available  here Peter

Centurion Mk 5/1 Royal Australian Armoured Corps, Vietnam

AFV  Club's Centurion Mk 5/1   Almost out of the box, just with some stowage added ( J-Work's ration boxes were nice and cheap ).  Weathered with oils and pigments. Fun build, but the vinyl tracks were a bit of a problem, which is why the idler wheels are too far forward to get enough tension to stop the track twisting. Peter

Started this last weekend as a change of pace from the complex kit's i'd been doing recently - so built this OOB. Great fun to build, though the decals were thick and a bit stubborn Painted with Tamiya Acrylics Total time taken about 16 hours over 3 days. Hope you like it - I really enjoyed just blasting through it  Peter

Academy 1/32nd F-16I Sufa With Eduard Etched Belts and External set Finished this on Monday - I have very mixed feelings about this kit, it's very impressive but it's also somewhat variable. Being made out of a mix of kits the plastic and details are slightly variable, which makes things more interesting. The fit isn't bad, but does need fettling in places, and some of the engineering could be better. The Eduard seatbelt set is great, but the External set is completely pointless - the Afterburner parts which was the main reason that I got it simply didn't fit, being too wide to fit in the jet exhaust.
